Life, sports, hydroplanes in Qatar the focus of Rotary Three Creeks presentation last night6/3/2016
Nelson Holmberg delivered an interesting presentation about his two trips to Doha, Qatar at the second-ever meeting of the Rotary Club of Vancouver Three Creeks last night.
His presentation included a video of the 2014 H1 Unlimited Oryx Cup/UIM World Championship to begin the meeting. He then discussed life in Qatar, and how its capitol city - Doha - is the economic center of the tiny nation that's driven by global export of natural gas. Qatar, roughly the same size as Connecticut, sits on the second-largest known reserve of natural gas on the planet. His presentation ranged from how he got involved in hydroplane racing, through his two world-championship winning trips to Qatar with the Graham Trucking unlimited hydroplane team, to his current hobby of racing outboard hydroplanes. A nearly-full room of charter members, as well as potential new members witnessed the presentation and reported they had a good time with the meeting. Comments are closed.
