Our own Nelson Holmberg will share stories and photos about his two unlimited hydroplane racing world championship trips to Doha, Qatar at our next meeting, Thursday, June 2.
In 2013 and 2014, Holmberg made trips to the Middle East nation of Qatar, where he worked on the pit crew of the Graham Trucking-sponsored unlimited hydroplane, which won the World Championship both years. He will share behind-the-scenes experiences both from the racing and from his "time off" during the trips to Qatar. It is an interesting presentation with facts about the area that one may not have already known, or even imagined, based on perceptions about the Middle East drawn from mass media and culture. We hope you'll be able to join us, and bring a guest [or two] who might also be interested in joining Rotary as we continue to work toward our own charter. We are very excited to announce that the Rotary Club of Camas-Washougal has announced it will be our sponsor club!
This is very exciting and important news, as it's another necessary step toward our charter! We will share more about this as it develops, but thank you to club President Tom Crozier, the club's board of directors and all of the members of the Camas-Washougal club. We're very grateful!
We have just confirmed that the one and only Pat Jollota will be the first-ever program for the Rotary Club of Vancouver Three Creeks at our May 19 meeting.
Pat, the most-recognized voice in SW Washington history, will provide a 20-25 minute presentation on the history of the Hazel Dell/Salmon Creek/Felida & Ridgefield areas. This will be our first "Rotary Meeting" as we continue moving toward charter, so don't miss it! |
