On Saturday, May 12, eight members of the Rotary Club of Three Creeks - along with one spouse - spent three hours preparing a 51-foot by 152-foot area of garden at Beacon Farm in Hockinson. The garden plots are for a community services project sponsored by the North County Community Food Bank. The club members also hauled and placed wood chips to cover the walkways in the gardens. Students from a garden class known as Seed to Supper, conducted by the food bank, was at the farm the same afternoon in order to prepare to plant their respective garden plots that our club bounded by stakes and string. Many thanks to members Jessie Harris and her husband Jeff, Susanne & Nelson Holmberg, Steve Pash, Shirley Gross, Chuck Green, Jim Moody and Dan Sockle (who spent his birthday morning volunteering), for participating in this great project that will make a big difference for the farm, and for the Seeds to Supper program participants. |
