ROTARY CLUB OF THREE CREEKS

Escobado educates about Leadership Clark County

4/20/2017

A very nice presentation by Angel Escobedo, Executive Director of Leadership Clark County at tonight's regular meeting of our club.

Did you know that LCC has more than 700 alumni? How about that they give away two scholarships every year? Or that the vast majority of their graduates have not ever run for political office?

For more than two decades, Leadership Clark County has been connecting and engaging current and emerging leaders in Clark County, while enhancing their leadership skills and understanding of key community issues, increasing their availability to serve as effective community leaders.

The leadership development program offers the following benefits to participants:
  • In-depth knowledge of the community
  • Access to a countywide professional network
  • Opportunity to improve leadership skills and to think critically about issues in Clark County
  • Opportunity to learn from a diverse group of peers from different backgrounds and expanded network of friends
  • Enhanced ability to serve in leadership roles in the community or work
  • Exposure to leaders and issues from around Clark County
  • Ability and tools to identify community problems and solutions to enhance quality of life in Clark County
  • New way of thinking about leadership
  • Increased confidence
  • Experience with collaborative approaches to problem solving

Many thanks to Angel for being a part of our meeting tonight.

Also during tonight's meeting, Jolene Nelson gave her "Who I Am" talk, sharing with us her journey from serving in the Coast Guard, where she met her husband, all the way to becoming a personal trainer right here in Vancouver. Nice job Jolene!

Thanks to visiting Rotarian Paul Montague (Greater Clark County) and Jim Selby's guest Azar Ghiasvand, who is interested in joining the club!
